On May 20, Scarlett Johansson's Tom Waits covers album, titled 'Anywhere I Lay My Head,' sees its release, with guest spots from David Bowie and production by TV on the Radio's David Sitek. Spearheaded by Waits' 'Falling Down' -- from 1988's 'Big Time' -- this isn't your average celebrity music makeover."When I had the idea to do an album of Tom Waits songs, before I had even met Dave [Sitek], someone suggested I sing 'Falling Down,'" Johansson tells Spinner. "But I decided it was too corny for me to do just because it has the lyric about 'Scarlett and me.' But Dave hadn't even noticed it. When I mentioned it, he thought the synchronicity was crazy and I never even thought twice about it after that. I was like, 'Yeah, let's do it.'"
"With 'Falling Down,' our pursuit of making one song with both Kermit the Frog and David Bowie on it became a success," Sitek adds.

This song and her voice is horrible!!!! My ears are bleeding from her voice.

I love this song. Can't wait til the full CD comes out, I think her voice and Tom Waits is a great combo. Pleasantly surprised

I dug that. Been waiting to hear some of this since I heard about the project. Her voice is gonna make this a fun listen.

Wow. I love Scarlett Jo but... This is not good. I'm an aspiring singer and this just makes me feel bad that she has a record deal and i don't. At least there's hope for everybody.

I like it. Her voice may not be the greatest, but it has a quality to it that just makes you listen. and the song's actually good. it is unfortunate that the less talented get record deals, but how many stars out there have become huge with terrible voices? eric clapton, jimi hendrix, BOB DYLAN??? heck, tom waits himself was no frank sinatra. let's just leave it at that.
and at least scarlett sings. britney can't sing to save her life. even the best sound editor couldn't redeem her.

Don't judge her voice on this track. Try and find her on Unexpected Dreams: Songs from the Stars. She does a version of Summertime and it might be the best version of that song I've heard.
This cover isn't so great, but I don't really think her voice is exactly the problem

This is decent. Nothing particularly amazing, but we'll see how she does with the others. I have a feeling the haters are expecting some vapid Lindsay Lohan dance track and don't even know who Waits is hahaha. And the producer is Dave Sitek, guitarist from the amazing TV On The Radio, not some crappy guy who would work with Britney.

I love the instrumental production, but am not a fan of the vocal production and mixing. It also seems a little off pitch-wise with the end ahhs.
Can you imagine if Chan Marshall was singing instead? It would of been magic.

Wow....scarlett has not only been so cocky as to assume she should cover a tom waits song, but an entire album. And in the process apparently is opening to taking down any other icon with her (bowie and kermit)...curious how kermit plays into this album but i cant imagine it is good. this puts scarlett on my list of unlikeable starlets.....

This is hard to tell what her voice is really like, because she's covering TOM WAITS!
That's like trying to sound like Don VITO CORLEONE!

The nicest thing about Tom Waits is that he cannot be confused with anybody. The ugliest thing about Tom Waits is that he cannot be confused with anybody.
The same goes for Scarlett.
